April Catch Up

Martin Scleicher and Diane

So we are now into May and the spring grass is finally coming through. Lets take a look back through April.

So it's been a bit of an up and down month, Guinness has spend most of it at the sidelines, we did adventure out at the beginning of the month however his behaviour has not been right and after a few vets visits and an episode of choke we decided to give him some time off. So he is happy having some time in his field and getting his dinner with PharmaQuin without even having to do anything for him!

Alina on the other hand has stepped up to the mark and has been having a go at the BD Youth rider tests with the aim of being selected for the inter-regionals in June. And we have scored a new personal best of 87.5%

The most exciting thing that happened in April was attending the BD Winter Dressage Championships where our mare Diane, ridden by Martin Schliecher who was competing in the Novice Gold and Novice Freestyle Gold. She took the atmosphere very well and although a few mistakes we were very happy with her way of going and excited for her future! She also competed at the end of the month at Fieldhouse where she won both Mediums at her second attempt at the level.

Less than a week before Windsor now so Nutmeg has spend April having lots of pampering to make sure her coat is as good as it can be. She is also being lunged a little to try and improve her topline.

We have been given a HayGrazer Play bag at the beginning of the month to review and I have to say I am very impressed, Nutmeg struggled with it as she doesn't feel she should have to work for her feed and would rather just walk off however Guinness loved it and preferred it to eat out of the bag rather than the floor. I'm also impressed at how little mess there was in my lorry using one of these.

Guinness and Boy both had an experience in the Equesir BEST Box, Guinness had 3 consecutive days in the box which showed up a few issues with both his stomach and right fore leg. Boy just had a 1 day scan and treatment to check up on his injury he sustained nearly 3 years ago and it was great to see that it was not visible anymore so we are able to start the next chapter of his rehab. Both will be going back in at the end of May for a follow up 3 days.

Last but not least we spent the final few days of April in Villamoura,Portugal, for my mothers birthday, a lovely few days with some Sun and good food was a great way to finish the month!
